Contract: Fixed Term, 12 months (with potential for extension or permanent opportunity)
Location: Office based, 5 days a week in Hitchin Town Centre
Office Hours: 9:00am to 5:00pm
About the Business:
My client is a leading organisation specialising in providing comprehensive support and solutions for planning permission enquiries and applications. They assist clients in navigating the often complex and challenging process of obtaining planning permission, as well as supporting those who wish to object to a proposal.
Purpose: An interesting opportunity is coming available for a dedicated 'Technical Support and Marketing Assistant' to join our client's busy, professional team. This role involves a blend of technical 'back-office' support for planning consultants by monitoring of documents related to land registry, local plans, public reactions, and local authority communications. This support is crucial in helping the planners efficiently assist customers. Additionally, the role requires you to be an integral part of the wider team, participating in a diverse range of administrative support, team meetings and marketing activities.
Your work will be collaborative, interesting, sociable and creative.
Exact experience is not essential as you will get to learn so much here on the job, however if you have some prior experience in a planning or property related industry, and some events and marketing experience, this will be a huge advantage.
During your time in the role, you will get to:
- Administer planning applications and appeals
- Liaise with clients (Landowners, Developers and Homeowners) and local authorities by conversation and written correspondence
- Monitor applications and assist in drafting planning/appeal notice letters
- Conduct planning history and constraints searches
- Lead on Non-Material Amendment (minor changes to existing planning permissions) and Condition Discharge applications (with consultant support)
- Monitor local plans
- Attend design team meetings, record, and produce minutes
- Provide day-to-day support for planning consultants
- Maintain job files and the Encyclopedia
And support with Marketing tasks such as:
- Organise events, manage invitees, source locations, and provide hospitality
- Coordinate with consultants to produce and edit social media content
- Format and post content
- Organise the networking calendar and support consultants in attending events
- Identify local marketing and networking opportunities
- Prepare award applications
About you! Essentially, you will have:
- Ability to multi-task and prioritise
- Strong organisational and time management skills
- Flexible and responsive to changing circumstances
- High-level of computer skills, especially in Word
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Attention to detail and accuracy
- A supportive attitude towards team collaboration
- A professional and friendly telephone manner
- Ability to be trusted to work unsupervised (once trained)
- A strong understanding of client confidentiality
- High level of personal integrity
And it would be desirable if you have also:
- Exposure to planning
- Experience with event coordination
- Experience with company social media
- Proficiency in Excel
